AutoScooper 11 vs 12 Lite: Which PetPivot Is Right for Your Cat?

If you have decided on a PetPivot, there is exactly one decision left: the AutoScooper 11 at $179, or the AutoScooper 12 Lite at $149.

The $30 difference is the least interesting part. Here is what actually separates them.

The Short Version

The 12 Lite is cheaper and easier to get into. The 11 holds more waste. That is the whole trade-off.

Why the Entry Step Matters More Than $30

The 12 Lite ships with a front entry step and a 12.4-inch entrance height. This is not a cosmetic upgrade.

Kittens, senior cats, cats with arthritis, and cats recovering from injury all hesitate at a high lip. A cat that hesitates is a cat that finds somewhere else to go — and the cost of that is measured in carpet, not dollars. If your cat is young, old, short-legged, or has any mobility issue at all, the step alone justifies choosing the 12 Lite, and you save money doing it.

For a healthy adult cat that already vaults into a covered box without pausing, the step is genuinely optional.

Why the Extra 2 Litres Matters More Than It Sounds

Ten litres versus eight is a 25% larger drawer, and it compounds daily.

Independent testers at Cats.com specifically flagged that the drawer "may fill quickly in multi-cat homes." That is the AutoScooper 11's 10-litre drawer they were describing — the 12 Lite has less room, not more.

So the capacity question is really a household-size question. One cat: either model, emptying roughly weekly. Two cats: the 11's drawer buys you noticeably fewer trips. Three: choose the 11 and expect to empty every few days regardless.

On the "Up to Four Cats" Claim

Worth flagging honestly, because the merchant's own materials disagree with each other. The 12 Lite product page advertises up to four cats, while PetPivot's FAQ elsewhere states up to three.

Given an 8-to-10-litre drawer and independent testing that already found it filling fast in multi-cat homes, treat three as the realistic ceiling — and at three, expect to empty every few days. If you have four or more cats, you want a second box regardless of which brand you buy. That is standard feline advice: one box per cat plus one, and automation does not repeal it.

What Is Actually in the Box

The 12 Lite arrives with the main unit, waste container, four support legs, power adapter, one roll of 20 liners, the front entry step, a user manual and a quick start guide.

Note the support legs are included here — for the AutoScooper 11 they are a separate $18.89 2-pack. Small thing, but it narrows the real price gap to closer to $10 if you wanted legs anyway.

What Does Not Differ

Both share the constraints that matter most:

  • Clumping mineral or bentonite clay litter only. No long-strip tofu, no crystal. Non-negotiable on either model.
  • 3-pound, six-month minimum for the safety sensors to register your cat correctly.
  • No app, no Wi-Fi on either.
  • Same 30-day return window (you pay return shipping, unit must be clean) and same one-year warranty with PetPivot covering repair shipping.

Consumables are model-specific, though — the waste bags, liners and base beds listed for the AutoScooper 11 are sold for that unit. Check the fit before reordering.

The Decision, In One Line

Get the 12 Lite if you have one or two cats, or any cat that would benefit from a step — which is most kittens and most cats over about ten. You save $30 and get the more accessible machine.

Get the AutoScooper 11 if you have two or three cats and would rather empty a drawer less often than save $30.

For the wider picture on whether either is right for you, see our full AutoScooper review — and if you are still weighing this against the premium tier, PetPivot vs Litter-Robot 4 covers that $550 gap.
