Saatva Mattress Review: I Slept on It for 8 Months. Here's My Honest Take.

I bought the Saatva Classic in a Queen size, Luxury Firm, about eight months ago. I had a Casper before that. Here's what I actually think after sleeping on it every night.

What I Paid and What I Got

The Queen Luxury Firm was $1,795 at time of purchase. That's a lot. But I made the decision after watching too many YouTube mattress reviews and realizing that the companies spending the most on marketing are often not the ones making the best mattresses.

Saatva's pricing is direct-to-consumer but not ultra-budget. You're paying more than you would for a Casper or Purple, less than a Tempur-Pedic. The question is whether you get more.

What comes with the purchase: Free white glove delivery (they set it up, remove your old mattress), a 365-night home trial, and a 15-year warranty. Those terms are genuinely competitive — most mattress companies offer 100-night trials.

The Mattress Itself

The Saatva Classic is a dual-coil hybrid — coils on top of coils, with foam layers and an organic cotton cover. It sleeps very differently from a memory foam mattress.

What it does well:

Temperature regulation. The coil construction means significant airflow. I was a hot sleeper on my Casper foam mattress; I stopped being one on the Saatva. If you run warm at night, this is a meaningful difference.

Edge support. The perimeter coil system is noticeably more supportive at the edges than most foam or hybrid mattresses. For couples who use the whole bed, or for anyone who sits on the edge of the bed regularly, this matters more than people realize before they experience the difference.

Long-term support. After 8 months, the Luxury Firm has held its shape almost perfectly. No noticeable sagging or body impressions. Memory foam beds often show wear by this point.

What it doesn't do as well:

Motion isolation. The coil construction transfers movement more than memory foam. If your partner moves a lot at night, you'll feel it. This is the main trade-off versus foam mattresses.

Initial adjustment period. The first two weeks felt firmer than I expected. By week three it had broken in noticeably. If you try it and think "this is too firm," wait a month before drawing conclusions.

The Firmness Levels

Saatva offers three firmness options: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm. I ordered the Luxury Firm after reading that it's the most popular and tends to work for the widest range of sleepers.

If I could go back: I'd try the Plush Soft. The Luxury Firm is good but I think the Plush Soft might be perfect for my side-sleeping preference. Saatva does offer an exchange within the trial period, but I didn't feel strongly enough to go through the process.

The Firm option is for stomach sleepers and people who explicitly want a hard mattress. Most people should start with Luxury Firm.

Is It Worth the Price?

At $1,795 for a Queen, it's a meaningful purchase. My honest answer: yes, for the right buyer.

Worth it if: You sleep hot, you care about edge support, you have back pain that a firmer coil mattress might address, or you've been sleeping on a foam mattress and want to try something structurally different.

Maybe not worth it if: You and your partner have very different firmness preferences, you move a lot at night, or you genuinely love the contouring feel of memory foam.

The 365-night trial is a real safety net. Use the full trial period before deciding.
